Tina’s St. Francis Inn Experience

I just had to tell you about what happened on both the 9:15 and the 11:30 GhoSt Augustine Hearse Ride the other night! Both events happened at the St Francis house.
My first tour group was at the St Francis Inn around 10:30 last night. I was telling the story of Ms. Elizabeth when a gentleman on the tour’s cell phone began to ring. I ignored the interruption and continued on with the story. He walked away from the group and kept saying “hello, hello, hello” There was no one on the other end of the call. So he excused himself. He came back to the group with a look of confusion on his face. He asked if we all heard his phone ring. Of course we did mutter a guest. The call came from his son’s number. Concerned there was something wrong he dialed it back. When he reached his son his son had no idea what his dad was talking about and told him he DID NOT call at 10:30! He wanted to know how that could have happened. I had no explanation for the phantom call! Could it have been Elizabeth that was playing with the gentleman’s phone?
The second incident happened at the same place but this time around 12:30. Again I was telling the story of Ms. Elizabeth. One of the gentlemen in the group walked away. I finished up the story and we all got back into the hearse. The man’s face was pale and asked again about Elizabeth and why she didn’t like men. I told him we think it was a man that murdered her and her anger is aimed towards men. He told us he was experiencing a panic attack just as I was beginning the story! He didn’t hear the entire story but had a feeling of apprehension and fear. He said he had to walk away because he couldn’t stay in the area. Not sure why Elizabeth’s energy was so strong last night but both times it was directed to men!
You never know what’s going to happen out there but it is always an adventure!

Photo from GhoSt Augustine’s Original Hearse Ride

We want to thank Becky Allen for taking this interesting photo at the National Cemetery while on our Ghost Augustine Hearse Ride. Take a ride to the south side of St. Augustine and over to the world famous St. Augustine lighthouse in a haunted hearse. Here the ghostly tales as you ride through the dark narrow streets of the nations oldest city. Make sure you bring your cameras because you never know what you may capture while on a ghost tour in St. Augustine. Thanks again, Becky for sending us the photo!!

Phone Call…from the hearse?!

One night 3 of our GhoSt Augustine tour guides and myself were standing around our 1974 Hearse, Tariqa. We were just discussing the tours, the paranormal events, and of course the hearses. The hearse driver that evening was Brandy and she had her personal things setting inside the hearse, including her cell phone.  We finished our conversation of about 20 minutes and all went our separate ways when Tina, another hearse driver called Brandy. She was like “Sorry I missed your call, what’s up?” Brandy was a little confused and asked Tina what the heck she was talking about. Tina said, “You called me three times!” Brandy told Tina how she had been standing around talking and her phone was in the car. They both started laughing and realized, duh! The phone was inside the hearse, apparently Tariqa called Tina wanting her to get in on the conversation. Weird things like that often happen around here ;o) Needless to say the hearse is haunted and she has a mind of her own. Join us for our St. Augustine Ghost Tour, in a HEARSE!

Interesting Photo From Our Hearse Ride

Recently one of our GhoSt Augustine Hearse Ride guests, David Buck, took a photo of our 1974 hearse (known as Tariqa) during the ghost tour and captured a fascinating paranormal mist. Tariqa is known to be a very haunted hearse!!
Thank you so much, David, for sending it to us.

Interesting Photo from GhoSt Augustine’s Hearse Ride

This photo was recently taken by one of our guests on GhoSt Augustine’s Hearse Ride, the Original Hearse Ghost Tour in St. Augustine. Becky Allen took this photo at St. Augustine’s National Cemetery. It almost appears like there is a dark shadow figure near one of the headstones in the back of the photo. You never know what you may encounter when visiting a cemetery in a haunted hearse!

GhoSt Augustine’s Haunted Hearse Rides

People always asks if our hearses really are haunted. Well, honestly…yes! Both of our hearses are haunted!! How great is that for a St. Augustine Ghost Tour?!
Frankie our 1990 hearse is my favorite, just don’t tell Spook 74 I told you. Frankie has two resident ghosts riding along with her.
The first ghost I want to tell you about is Emily. Research has told us that Emily passed away at a very early age, around 7 years old. Apparently she either doesn’t realize she has passed or just isn’t ready to move on. She has fun manipulating the K2 meter, especially if children are on the tour. She seems to enjoy interacting with the children on our tours.  People have also reported hearing hear giggle while riding in the hearse. I have never experienced Emily personally but I have had many encounters with our other resident ghost.
Our other ghost’s name is Frank. (The hearse was named Frankie before we even heard the story about Frank). Frank used to drive the hearse when Frankie was still in service at the Funeral Home. Frank was an older gentleman who passed away in his 70s from a heart attack.  He loved driving the hearse and cared for it like it was his baby. Apparently Frank doesn’t want to leave ol’ Frankie! Several tour guides have been touched; their hairs pulled, or have even seen Frank sitting in the car. One day I took the 1990 hearse to run errands for the store, when I looked in the rear view mirror and there he was! To my surprise, there was Frank setting behind me smiling.  Me not being shocked by the paranormal looked up and said, “Hey Frank! Are you tagging along with me today?” He just smiled, and nodded and disappeared. He also has a tendency to play with the wind shield wipers.
Both Emily and Frank are very pleasant spirits to have along for the ride and seem to be watching over us.
Maybe when you join us for GhoSt Augustine’s Hearse Ride you will experience one of our happy haunts.
Happy Haunting!

Another Story From The Hearse

A couple of weeks ago I had a phone call from one of my hearse drivers that she couldn’t find her set of keys for the 1990 Hearse, Frankie. She knew 100% that she had them and they were nowhere to be found!
Last week I had an email from the hearse driver: FYI Frankie’s keys came home! They were in a plastic bag with tea candles in a plastic shoe box under a shelf in my office!  I HAVE NO IDEA how they got there but I just laughed and said thanks for giving them back! Since working at Ghost Augustine I no longer try and find “logical” explications for illogical things that happen! Just wanted you to know!

Meet Vana our newest hearse driver

My earliest memories go as far back to when I was a toddler and my
experience with the paranormal began then. Having a skeptical nature, and
being concerned if this was just my imagination, I never took my experiences
for granted. Much to my surprise and with little effort on my part, many of
the experiences I have had have always been verified without my prompting
the information from any given source. I have had many encounters throughout
my life and look forward to those yet to come.

I relish in the opportunity of being a tour guide in such a fascinating
place as St. Augustine and look forward to sharing all the knowledge I have
concerning the history of the city and the prevalent paranormal occurrences
here in our majestic township.

Another Story From the Hearse

Taking a tour in a hearse is always an adventure. You have the excitement of riding (usually for the first time) in a vintage hearse, the opportunity to explore narrow streets that are not part of the main stream tourist areas of downtown and the possibility of encountering an entity! With all those things combined with the anticipation of the evening, throw in a real EMF-meter and an experienced licensed guide and it adds up to a night of fun!
I have had some evenings where honestly we had no activity and other nights when every step was met with cold spots, orbs in every picture and even full apportions of a cat and “something  peering” at us from the top of the Lighthouse! I have encountered what I can only assume is George Potter at the back of A-1-A Ale works. A-1-A use to be Potters Wax Museum.   (I was telling a story about O.C. Whites when the K-2 meters were going crazy with spikes.I said hang on George, I will get to you as soon as I finish this story and the meters STOPED spiking!) I have heard footsteps following us at the Lighthouse, saw something I can’t explain in the National Cemetery and witnessed countless guests experience “chill bumps”
So what do you need to do to have a great night “investigating”? You need to start with an open mind. Being “skeptical” is fine! In fact I encourage it! But be open to the possibility that there is something more to the here and now. Bring a camera and extra batteries. There are times when camera batteries have been drained. Share your own personal stories and ask your guide questions. We may not have the answers but we love the opportunity to hear your experiences and share ours!
Remember what we do is not theatrical, no one is going to try and scare you, we don’t dress up in costume, and we use the same tools that Ghost Hunters and TAPS use. Our tours are about education, history and making sure what ever experience you have is authentic. If there are power lines that are making your meters spike, we will tell you! This tour is the real deal!
I look forward to seeing you in the back of my hearse!
Tina

Adventures with Frankie……the 1990 Hearse

Being a tour guide for GhostAugustine has been quite the adventure! I started doing tours in April 2010. At first I didn’t get a lot of activity. That quickly changed as I got to know the “entities” that hung out on our tour. Especially the ones that were in the hearses! I would like to tell you a few experiences I have had with Frankie our 1990 hearse!
One my first Haunted Hearse Pub tour we stopped at The British Pub on Anastasia Island. I shut off the lights and locked up the hearse while my guests took a bunch of pictures with Frankie. We were in the Pub for about 20 minutes, when we came out Frankie’s lights were on but she was still locked up! My guests excitedly talked about how they were taking pictures before we went in and the lights WERE OFF! They even had the pictures to prove it!
On another evening with Frankie she would not let the guests out of the hearse. Frankie has power locks and when I popped the locks and started to open the passenger door, the door locked itself! This went on several times! I got the key out to unlock the door manually and the door locks would not open.  At that point the K-2 meters were spiking! Finally I said “Okay Frankie, stop playing with the locks and let these nice people out” the door immediately unlocked! I heard a small chuckle in my ear. This gives new meaning to the phrase “captive audience”! Please be assured no one was in any danger but Frankie is a bit of a prankster and loves to get involved with our guests.
Last week I had a gentleman sitting in the front seat with me while his friends were in the back. He was a “self proclaimed” non-believer. We were at the Lighthouse and I was about to start up Frankie when we began a discussion about being skeptical. Suddenly my seat began to move up and back! I started to laugh and asked the gentleman if he just witnessed the movement. He shook his head yes. Seconds later the seat moved down and forward! Again I asked if he witnessed the seat move. This time he said he did and” if he was driving the hearse this would be his last night!” He told me he still wasn’t sure about all the “ghost stuff” but something strange had just happened! His friends in the back of the hearse were getting spikes on their K-2 meters!  I think Frankie just wanted me to be safe and moved the seat closer to the steering wheel!
These are just a few fun things that happened while out with Frankie. Our hearses like people have their own personalities and really enjoy interacting with our guests. They are unpredictable and each night is a new opportunity for a unique experience!
