Inn Keeper's History of the Building:
This is a quaint 3 bedroom Victorian Home built by Lucy Abbott in 1865. It has been beautifully restored and maintained, from molding to antiques. Features a dining room, TV parlor, free WiFi, rocking porch, restaurant and bar.
Miss Lucy planned and built her home during the Civil War. A Confederate uniform was found buried near the corner of the house (found during repairs). She used the house for many high society receptions, housing for Civil War soldiers needing care and for community outreach housing during the TB epidemic and the Great Fire in the 1900s. She never did marry, but still loves to hostess here and is often detected during the Ghost Tours.
Lady Rose married here, amongst dozens of roses. She comes back to visit carrying her scent with her, as do many others. Watch Local Haunts of St Augustine (CW 17) for episodes taped here. The Inn is one block from the Old Town Trolley stop, Ripley's and Fort Castillo San Marcos.
This is the perfect location to set out exploring, yet come home to comfort without walking a mile to get there. Experience the Spanish history of St Augustine, class of the Civil War Era, and unique paranormal experience. Inside is The Punkin Bread & Spice Bistro with homemade pumpkin bread, peach bread, banana bread, almond cake, bread bowls with soup of the day, sandwiches, spirits (alcoholic and ghostly). Note: Restaurant and Bar are Open to the Public.
